– Mountain Call – Skopos Sunset Hike, Tuesday 12th of June –

/ June 8, 2018

You want a little bit of a mountain-feeling, with climbing, reaching a peak with an overall view and wind in your hair? – Then it’s time to hike with us to Skopos!

Skopos, with it’s around 500m, is the highest peak in the Southeast of Zakynthos. The possibility to start near sea level and reach the top on one path makes this hike interesting for those who like to have a little bit of a mountain-feeling.

We will start in the afternoon from Argassi, on our way up accompanied with the setting sun and the air cooling slowly down. The Byzantine church Panagia Skopiotissa is on our way, a little scrambling and then we are up on the “Tourla”, the peak of Mount Skopos. Stars come out, maybe a song from a nightjar is to hear in the distance and in twilight we walk down a dust road, a view to Zakynthos’ town with twinkling streetlights in front of us , getting back to the starting point in darkness.

Equipment:
good walking shoes, sunprotection, water (tea, juice,..), small snack, thin pullover for the top (it’s windy up there); torch if you don’t feel safe walking in the dark
